An exhibition of photos by Captain Linnaeus Trip is at the Metropolitan Museum. The photos date from 1852-1860. I liked it so I bought this book. In the current digital age it is interesting to learn how photographers in previous eras created photographs. Also since I have travelled a good deal in India, it is interesting to see how buildings I have seen looked over 150 years ago. The book is beautifully produced.
Large format well done collection of Tripe's photographs. Given the rarity and price of an origin volume which few will ever encounter outside of a specialty library and even fewer will own, this is a real gift to Tripe fans. My suggestion is buy it now before they disappear.

So thankful for book of this kind. My father took this book to Burma and went to look for the exact place. So much has changed you cannot no longer recognize the landmark.
