That’s better researched, more comprehensive, and more cosistent book on complementary/alternative medicine than Paul Offit’s „Do you believe in Magic...†But I’ve read them both in kindle format and strictly speaking, both are worth reading because they have different styles and stresses. However, if you are not much into this stuff, just go for „Trick or treatment.†Then you see if you are willing to go on to next book on then topic. There are other books and papers, often more detailed, but those two are a good trade-off between the light and informative, which makes them a very good start giving you an overall but solid knowledge on what the alternative/complementary medicine is in reality and how it compares to conventional medicine.
I found this book listed in a footnote, and got it because it sounded like a scientific review of various treatments. I was especially interested in the section about herbal therapies. As in the other chapters, it gave the pro's and con's of many--as well as what had been tested and what has yet to be evaluated. I would recommend this book to anyone who has medical/physical problems and is looking for help.
Very interesting read, explains things in an easy to understand way even if you don't have any medical or science background. I recommend this book to everyone since it really helped me understand the placebo effect and fake pseudoscience "medical" treatments that are becoming more and more popular.
I've read other books on this topic, but this one seems the most thorough and meticulously researched. I truly think the authors have been fair and open minded. I highly recommend this book to everyone. To me there only two kinds of medicine: medicine that works and medicine that doesn't. This book clearly explains this difference, how we know what we know, and which things fall into each category. Thank you and well done to the authors!

A must read for anyone who believes in the scientific method and who is trying to live as natural as possible. The information is presented well and is an easy read.
Science is not pushing for the established truth but an inquiring process. That's a simple principle that very often is lost. Not this time and that's what makes this book really valuable.
