Great collection in a great package for a great price! All first rate literature and essential science fiction!While all of the novel selections are top notch, they are not necessarily my choices. I do understand the logistical problem of deciding what to include in the space afforded, but there are four uncompromisable issues to mention. First and foremost, while the 3 book "Valis" sequence is included (and rightfully so), I personally find the original novel, "Radio Free Albemuth", of which "Valis" was re-worked into, is perhaps Philip K. Dick's finest work. BUY "RADIO FREE ALBEMUTH"! Secondly, Dick was a supremely prolific author, and none of his non-science fiction works are represented, which is a shame considering how truly affecting they are ("Confessions of a Crap Artist", for instance). Third, a volume of choice short stories ("Selected Stories of Philip K. Dick") would have been essential for a well rounded collection. Lastly, "The Shifting Realities of Philip K. Dick: Selected Literary and Philosophical Writings" is an excellent compilation of essays, speeches, etc. brings into context the themes and ideas from his writing into real world. And for the record, if I were the publisher working with the budget to only present the given number of pages, to accommodate my issues, I would substitute the novels "Martian Time-Slip", "Dr. Bloodmoney, or How We Got Along After the Bomb", and "A Maze of Death".Seriously though, don't let my fan-rant prevent you from buying this set. It is a great set. Cheap, durable, compact. Once you have finished it, and whet your appetite for more Dick, branch out with the suggestions above!

Perhaps chance dictates the path of a life or a country, and divining what’s to come means foreseeing with mystical help, as, again, most of the characters do employing I Ching (Book of Changes). The layering Dick accomplishes makes The Man in the High Castle a terrific reading experience, a novel guaranteed to elevate a person’s anxiety level.

I'm a big fan of PKD and have been for a long time, however I've had a hard time finding his books in a format other than used books or overpriced reprints. I'd been looking at this collection for a long time and, after agonizing over it for a year or two, decided to bite the bullet and buy it. Boy am I glad I did.The collection is made up of three beautifully bound hardcover books that look great with our without the dust jacket all encased in a nice slip case. The books are just the right size and weight to be comfortable held in one hand and read, which is something that doesn't quite come across in the pictures you see here. The collection doesn't have any of PKD's short stories which is a shame, but that just means I get the opportunity to buy a collection of my choosing. Library of America did a good job collecting some of the best PKD novels and putting them into a great collection. If, like me, you're a fan of PKD and want a nice collection that has just about everything one could want, get this collection!

Quite imaginative, especially inventive in describing: alternative social systems, ala 1984; post-apocalyptic societies; space travel; off-world colonization. Very off the beaten path of writers like Azimov, Bradbury; Dick makes them seem more conventional. Sometimes I found it a chore to plow through the complexities of his plots.

Nice collection, worth around the $65 price tag on Amazon...costs twice that elsewhere, and doesn't even have a fancy binding.

Quite a bargain! I really like taking my time engrossing myself in universes K. Dick's novels create. A philosophically inclined reader will find a lot of fodder for contemplation on our current lives. I really like the quality of this edition, too - paper feels gentle and makes you want to treat the novel with a special reverence.

This is a nice collection of Philip K. Dick's novels. The books are a nice size to take while travelling or for everyday armchair reading. The binding is excellent, and the books have a placeholding ribbon. To my knowledge, this is the only collection of Dick's novels and therefore much more economical than purchasing each novel individually from an alternative publisher. I strongly recommend this product for any fan of this phenomenal science fiction author.

Rules of the Ruff has well written, thought provoking characters who make decisions like real people do- sometimes right, sometimes wrong. They're funny, likable, and relatable. The story is entertaining but not light- it pulls you in and makes you really start to think. The dogs also have their own, very engaging, personalities. This is a great book.

OH MY GOSH LOVED, LOVED, LOVED it. Heidi was Cheebs & Cooper's dog walker for a long time before she went to pursue her 2nd passion writing. Our gods loved her and her walks. The forest one day the beach the next or the polo fields. Cheebs & Cooper are special dogs. No really, both resues and Cheebs doesn't warm to anyone. They fell in love with Heidi and we fell in love with her as well. When she sold GoDogz we were really bummed but I am an avid reader and wished her well. So imagine my delight when I picked up her book Rules of the Ruff. It was one of those times where you think God I hope this is good because I really like the author and want her to be good at this. I couldn't put it down. I read it cover to cover with a smile on my face the entire time. I read ALOT! I have already finished 5 books on my vacation. Heidi is an absolutely fantastic writer. I loved her writing style. Her humor had me in the first few pages. Jessie trying to win over Wes with her "dog jokes" had me laughing out loud. I could identify so much with all the characters. I was the rebellious youth who didn't take no for an answer and started working at 10 years old so I had candy money. I rode my bike around "charming adults" so they would put me to work to shut me up. But I don't like kids very much... so Wes had me at hello. How Heidi developed the charaters of Ann, Loralee& Max totally shed light on the "mean popular" kids trying to be popular and liked when they are all equally insecure. Beautiful characters both young and old. Heidi hurry up and write another one. I was smiling, laughing, drawn into every character. Relating to the dog walks from the walker and the high maintenance "parents" of 4 legged children. I know my children are the cutest. I LOVE to get photos and have told the "other dog walkers, boarders, trainers" they should do that because it is the BEST thing about it. I LOVE seeing the babies happy with their pack on the trail. Rules of the Ruff by Heidi Lang was sweet and funny, but also so much more, as we get a glimpse of the world through 12 year old Jessie’s eyes. Feeling pretty alone in her cousin's home for the summer , Jessie pesters a reclusive neighbor into letting her tag along on his dog walking job. She learns lessons about judging others, the complicated human nature, consequences of actions, how to stand up for yourself and still get along with others, and the fluidity of relationships. The ending was just beautiful and summed up all that Jessie learned about compassion. I think most kids (and adults) can relate to Jessie's experiences. I empathized with her, while still cringing at some of her actions. I liked the realistic portrayal of all the characters, and how Jessie learns that everything isn’t always black and white. People aren’t usually all good or all bad. We make good choices, and sometimes bad ones, and we keep trying. And we keep forgiving, because we don’t always know someone else's story.

Rules of the Ruff is a charming story about a young girl named Jessie who wants desperately to have a dog of her own. To prove she can handle the responsibility, Jessie apprentices for a grumpy, kinda unlikeable dog walker during her summer vacation. Adventures ensue: from learning to wrangle unruly pups to sabotaging a rival dog walker.It's a cute, zippy, funny coming-of-age story with gentle messages about growing up and growing more mature. The characters are colorful and endearing too. Rules of the Ruff will especially appeal to kids who love stories about animals. And it has such an adorable cover!
