I began studying drums (with Pete, actually) as an adult who thought he could play pretty good drums from a garage band point of view. I was quickly disabused of that notion and these books had a lot to do with my deconstructing and rebuilding into a real, versatile, chart-reading drummer. The books are an essential building block to anyone who hopes to one day be a gigging drummer at any level. They will give you not just fundamentals of playing in general, but also guidance on basic patterns and different feels for most of the different kinds of music a versatile (and hirable) drummer will be expected to play on any one gig.....basic jazz ride, shuffle, country swing, fusion, latin, bossa/samba, jazz rock. Learn about switching hands, turning the beat around, half-time feel and even a basic overview of polyrhythms. All in easy to follow language and charts. Every serious drummer must have this book in his/her basic library. You will go back to it often.

As both a player and a drum teacher, these books have been a great investment. As a player, with decades of experience, Pete's books still introduced me to new techniques and concepts that greatly benefited my playing. As now a drum teacher, I encourage all of my students to work through Pete's books. This is exactly the kind of material I wish I had available to me when I was starting out as a young drummer.Pete is a master of the craft, and his books reflect that. I highly recommend adding Learn to Play the Drumset to your library.

Pete is one of the best instructors and players that I've ever had the chance to meet and work with. I had the pleasure of studying with Pete for many years, and his coaching helped me become the full time player that I am today. I've not only used this book in the past as a student, but it's one that I still reference today, and also use with my own students now. It's fantastic start to finish, well rounded book that touches on all of the important aspects of learning to play the drum set. Normally, you'd need to pick and pull info from various different books and piece it all together, but this one pulls that all together laying a comprehensive foundation for any student.

Best book and method for creative drumming - awesome teacher!Pete's book gives you the knowledge and exericises to take you step by step to build and improve your drumming skills. Instead of a million separate recipes he gives you simple concepts of - let's say singles and doubles - to build muscle memory and bring out your inner rhythmic impulses. It's like a tennis or basketball coach who gives you the drills to develop you physically and creatively - it's thorough and each step builds your skills and confidence and ability to play freely and expressively. Great teacher!

Although I sought Pete Magadini out twenty years ago because of his book The Musician's Guide to Polyrhythm, I am thankful he had me work through Learn To Play the Drumset. It is full of to-the-point practical studies that gave me what I needed to break through to working full time as a musician in a variety of gigs in the Bay Area. It gave me skills to tap into my own creativity in a way that's relatable to musicians of diverse backgrounds, which ultimately lead me to the challenging (and way out) situations of the NYC scene.

It is a great ideal to combine these very successful books into one new publication. I studied drums with Peter Magadini for several years and found the books to be challenging, encouraging and well organized. There is plenty of material for all levels of drumming, from developing technique, learning basic figures, reading charts...it's all there. I believe that students of various levels, as well as drum/percussion teachers will find that this new book will truly meet their needs.

I studied drumset with Pete for years—he is up with the Alan Dawson as one of the all-time-great drum pedagogues, and this book does a great job distilling his philosophy and approach. It's great for all levels of player.

I really love all of McCannon's work and it resonates with me. This and her book on Jesus were amazing. I had a much deeper connection with the Divine Mother and the issue that the Divine Feminine has been basically shut up in a locked closet for thousands of years and its that truth why there is so much plight in this world. This is the Divine Feminine that is in all of us, the side of us that nurtures, loves, connects on an intimate level. The masculine has been the Dominator and that is not what the holy masculine is supposed to do. It was never supposed to be about the dominated and the dominator. It was never supposed to be an Us Verses Them. Men were not supposed to own women, we were not supposed to be subservient. This role thing we have been conditioned in has HURT both sexes. It has hurt our relationship with each other. And it bleeds into all things, our politics, our businesses, our societies. OUR RELIGIONS in a big way - the religions have been part of how it has been conditioned into us. This is not what Jesus taught. This is not what Mary Magdalene taught. Tricia's writing also is well done. A lot of healers who are writing about their journeys cant really write really well. I read their books and think - I really love their story but no they are not really WRITERS - they are healers who have a story to tell. Tricia is a healer, an empath, a woman highly developed on her spiritual path towards enlightenment AND she knows how to write.

I will start by saying I am very happy I ordered this book. I had the honor of attending one of the author's public appearances several years ago. I totally agree that the teachings of the Doctrine of the Churches of this world have gone astray as Tricia clearly states in these pages. She has done a wonderful job on this book to show the true problem of how this world of ours has missed out when it fails to honor both the Divine Mother and Father at the same time.I have always been exposed to the worlds of past lives reincarnation and other metaphysical thought patterns by many people throughout my life. It was and has been refreshing for me to know people Like Tricia McCannon are still working to do their best to bring the light of truth for our spiritual growth to all people on this physical plane.Thank you Tricia for all you have done for everyone throughout the years and Thank you Amazon for your expedient delivery of one of the best Devinely Inspired books I have read in a long time. I really had high hopes for this book because I had read this authors previous one on Jesus. Reading this book, I felt that the author kept on giving a sermon about her personal viewpoints regarding spirituality. Furthermore, she made blanket statements of other religions that were based on her prejudice's of them, and presented some" facts" about them that are simply incorrect. I did enjoy reading about the divine mother and her unifying thread throughout history and the history of this world. For all of this I am giving this book a mixed review.

Divine Sophia i a deep exploration of how the divine feminine was lost during early Christianity and is coming back today. McCannon has contributed much to recovering the remnants and lost threads of the Goddess before the patriarchy cruelly swept her away. I find her initiations as a priestess of Isis fascinating and heartfelt. Her exciting journey with Isis encourages all of us to remember and resurrect the fire of the goddess within. I especially like her recovery of ancient Egyptian spirituality and her exploration of Hebrew wisdom. This book is a major contribution to balancing the patriarchy with the divine feminine.

I really loved this book and glad I decided to buy it in paperback (instead of kindle) because after I read it though, I find myself just opening it up to any page randomly and reading a section for inspiration or while holding a thought in my mind and seeking guidance. I especially appreciated the history provided about how the major world religions began and how the Divine Feminine was systematically driven underground (fools at the time obviously forgot that underground is where she goes to find her strength prior to re-emerging). GREAT read. Loved it and a well timed book.

I was so sad when this book was over. It is such an incredible read for anyone on a spiritual path. I am definitely going to read it again and am ordering more of her books. She has such a way about her writing that you connect so deeply to what she is saying. Thank you beautiful soul for spreading your story and such beautiful information!

This was a quick and pleasant read, and I gave this book four stars rather than five only because I hoped for a little more. I wish I could give it a half star more. It was well-written with great tips about keeping balance and taking an analytical approach to time management during school and on the job in the nursing field. I especially liked the part of the book where the author laid out a typical "schedule" during her shifts- what she does when and where and why. I hope this information will give me an edge as I move forward in my career in nursing and move through school! I would recommend this book to nursing students who have yet to begin their programs, especially those who are three weeks out or more so you can budget and follow the before nursing school checklist.

SO VALUABLE! I'm am organization and preparation freak so even though I enjoyed reading those sections, I didn't take away that much from them. I've already done or am planning to tackle most of those suggestions this summer before I start my BSN in the Fall. If you aren't inherently an organized person you NEED this book. LOVED this book. Following all the steps. Some are overkill, but I took A LOT from this book and i've never felt more prepared for nursing school in my life. **THIS BOOK IS FOR ANYONE JUST STARTING OR NEW** It goes over the types of classes you're going to be taking, what ways of studying you can practice, what books she still uses today, what supplies to get prepared for before school starts, reminding you to clean and meal prep before school because you'll have little time... etc. its a great book. Giving to a friend.

I am heading into my second year of nursing school, for the second time. Yes, you read that right I needed to repeat a semester. This book is amazing for any semester of nursing school or your new nursing career. I absolutely love this book, time management has been the best part so far. Excellent examples of what to do when you enter a patients room and how to efficiently prioritize your day. I wish I had bought this book my first semester. I can tell it is going to be very useful.

I just got accepted to nursing school, and in my frenzy of Googling excitement I found straightAnursingstudent.com, and was linked to this book. It's a very smooth, conversational, easy read. In this short book I feel like I got a much better idea of what nursing school will be like. I feel much more prepared, and I also very much appreciated the organization and scheduling tips. I definitely plan to use the binder system and Master Itinerary. I highly recommend this book to prospective or fresh nursing students!

I love the tips and suggestions here to make nursing school manageable. I'm just starting my program in the Fall so I plan to get to it with my best foot forward!Maureen Osuna talks about getting yourself ready for nursing school with your best forward and keeping that momentum throughout nursing school. She has great tips on how to study those ginormous textbooks, making the most out of each day, and other seemingly simple but apparently effective tips and tricks. I've already gotten those binders she suggests and I have my Excel spreadsheet ready to be filled out as soon as I get my syllabi.

This book simplifies everything and points you into the right direction! For me the most useful things that stand out is steps on how to study and be the most successful.
