This book is part of an ever-growing genre of books about why people are catholic. I have read a few books along this line over the last year. Titles such as:Why I Am Catholic (and You Should Be Too) by Brandon VogtWhy We're Catholic: Our Reasons for Faith, Hope, and Love by Trent HornForty Reasons I Am a Catholic by Peter KreeftAnd a slew of other books I have not considered reading yet. And yet this book is something very different from those three and the others in the genre at large. For this book is a collection from numerous contributors. There is no index, so I am not sure f some of the contributors offered answers in more than one section. But overall this book is an interesting read. There are moments that will make you smile, a few that might pull tears, and a lot that are inspiring. The book is broken into three sections:ForewordOne Why Do You Love Being Catholic?Two What Is Your Favorite Memory as a Catholic?Three As a Catholic, What Are Your Hopes for the Future?The answers rand from a single sentence, to several paragraphs. And the answers as a diverse as you would expect from asking a hundred people such open-ended questions. It was a great book to read through, at times I felt inspired, at times encouraged and at times just empathy for the story being shared.I could see this book being used in the recruitment of Dynamic Catholic Ambassadors. I could also see it as a bathroom reader, just pick it up every time you are there and randomly read a story or two. Or keep it by your bed site table or prayer corner for when you need a little inspiration or motivation. This is a book I could not see myself reading through from beginning to end again but could see my self flipping through and reading a story from time to time. Overall a good read but definitely a niche market.

Worthy of all the 4 and 5 star reviews given. Great illustrations and explanations on just about every fabric for suits. Details and examples of suit styles; cuts, fit, function, body types and how to measure. Other enlightenments are common defects in jackets, accessorizing, clothing care, etc. Even a guide on closet setup.

This is a highly recommendable book that would be of greatest benefit for the more advanced reader with an interest in looking elegant in a suit. It is exceptionally well illustrated and is the sort of book that can help make or break you as far as your presentability goes. Needless to say, the style tips here are entirely of the classical sort that remain perfectly current despite the fact that this was published as long ago as 1990.The main question for most readers would be whether to go for this or for 'Dressing the Man' by Allan Flusser. Fortunately, what you find here is perfectly complementary to Flusser, who admittedly has the advantage of starting from simpler basics and explaining these well to the beginner. A total novice may find the comprehensive review of different suit/blazer fabric types in this book to be a bit overwhelming, but for the reader who has grasped the basics this is the perfect book to help further his knowledge and taste. Whoever might have been left suspicious that Flusser may be keeping the finer points about suit styles a well guarded professional secret would probably find this book the logical next step to go on and further his knowledge and taste.It should be kept in mind that this book concentrates exclusively on suits and blazers. Allan Flusser's `Dressing the Man' is far better when it comes to showing the reader how to coordinate the suit with tie, shirt and to some degree shoes - though even then Flusser emphasis is still on the suit. Arguably, the most encyclopaedic and balanced overview of all of the basics can be found in Bernhard Roetzel's book 'Gentleman'. However, more advanced readers who are familiar with these other authors will definitely want to add this book to their collection.

What a disappointment. I was expecting a modern book about "How to Construct the Ideal Wardrobe". No such luck. This book is from the 80's, and according to the author, Prince Charles is the big trend-setter. If you're a yuppie stuck in the early 80's, then this book might be for you. But, it still won't tell you "How to Construct the Ideal Wardrobe". Instead, it'll tell you "How your ideal wardrobe is constructed."

It's a nice welcomed addition to my menswear library. The book is as described, Used, Good, and I paid a fair price for the condition the book was in. Although the book is dated, the information is still relevant. Very well illustrated.

While I have no intention on buying knickerbockers, I do appreciate this book's historical value. I believe most of the subject matter here should remain 'classic.' A great reference. I definitely juxtapose with the other book I own "Details - Mens Style Manual," which is heavily subjective.

Purchased as a gift for a man who takes dressing very seriously. He loves this book. Has very good information.

This is an odd book, and I couldn't quite make sense of it when I got it. It does not really contain applicable advice like A.F.'s books, although it contains occasional detail not found in other places (such as the descriptions of various textiles). It overemphasizes certain styles, and in general it leaves the impression of being eccentric and a little dated. I am glad I purchased it, but if I had just been trying to figure how to actually construct a wearable wardrobe, I would regard it as a wasted purchase.

Owned this book since it was first published but lost it in moving, which really stinks! I've had to buy a second-hand edition because it was a constant reference for me, especially when I tried ironing my shirts and pants but ended up ironing my hands.This is truly a classic book and while its recommendations may not be exactly in line with modern American men's fashion, it will not disappoint in the long term.
